Abstract

Modern cartographic studies have the advantage of between the applied Twining and theoretical aspects, especially if they are accompanied by important topics that address the needs of the society such as the current study on the assessment of land use maps in the urban centers of Zubayr by using remote sensing and geographic information systems. Urban, the center of the judiciary and the cities of Safwan and Umm Qasr thematic maps according to the best international classifications classification (Andersen) after the establishment of integrated geographical databases for the study area based on the latest satellite images and thematic maps The study concluded that the Spatial Analyst model was adopted in the assessment of maps according to the latest local standards approved by the Ministry of Housing and Construction.

In order to arrive at scientific and practical results that could constitute a breakthrough towards the automatic modeling of geographic databases, a spatial analysis and evaluation model for the study was developed. The spatial analysis model (MSALU) was applied to the study area of each city.

The study included four chapters. The first three chapters included detailed thematic maps of each of the three urban centers mentioned above, while the fourth chapter included the evaluation and analysis of these thematic maps according to the mentioned criteria.
