ABSTRACT
Retailing Study in Abha aims to classify the Retail Shops into groups according to the international classification that issued by the United Nation Organization. Study is going to determine the Commercial Pattern of the city by identifying the most effective activities in the Commercial Structure. The candidate depended in several curriculums: The Topical, Regional, Principle, He also used the Statistical and cartographical methods.
Population growth and the urban evolution has extremely affected and changed the retailing features in the city. The study has showed that the locational variation of the districts population and its effect on the number of the commercial shops concentration, as a result the downtown was the most attractive area to tempt a non-few number of Retailing. Morphology of the city has not showed any negative effect on Retailing, on the contrary the Slope.
The Current work is intending to use advanced statistical methods: Analyzing Patterns, Hot Spot Analysis, Spatial Autocorrelation. The study has addressed the Central Business District in Abha City through a number of advanced techniques depending on Geographic Information System: Simple Rings, Equal Competition Areas, Huff Model.
The study has revealed a number of problems related to retailing in Abha City. Some of those problems were due to the unequal distribution of retails, the non-suitable distribution of some activities, the absence of the some services like medical services (pharmacies) in the residential districts and the Asymmetrical Service Ranges. The study also included some of the findings and recommendations through the analysis of disparate elements and tangled relationships.
