Degree Required: Master's degree in architecture , specialty Islamic architecture.
The idea of the topic : The research study the problem of slums in Mecca types and causes of their appearance and the most important problems and of social problems , educational, economic, and security as well as its impact on development processes in Mecca , as recognized by research on the most important attempts at development of the slums in Mecca during the past years and therefore monitoring the pros and cons of this development , and to achieve the benefit , the research will identify some of the different international experiences in order to benefit from these experiences and achievements to upgrade slums.
The goal of the study: show different visions for the development of slums in Mecca in order to achieve the objective sought to provide safe environments and sustainable in the Mecca of the slums out through the posts effective and positive between the public and private sectors and to develop long-term strategies after studying realistic problem and its various dimensions.

The search in six chapters : I: A Brief History of Mecca , II: Slums (theoretical background ) III: an analytical study of the reality of slums in Mecca , IV: Attempts development of the slums in Mecca ( pros and cons ) , V: International Experiences of slum areas around the world ( lessons ) , VI: visions for the development of slums in Makkah (about hopefully. ) Then the findings and recommendations.
Research Summary :
Slums global phenomenon spread in most countries of the developing world and even ardent states which reflect one of the solutions to get the house pursued by the population in the absence of laws regulating housing and working to provide for all segments of society.
The slums problems with serious implications on society in the social, economic, political and security aspects of the problems .... etc, which have had a negative impact on the poor living year and distortion of the features of cities and urban communities, and the spread of slums in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a result of the concentration of development and lack of balance at the level of the Kingdom's regions and increasing rates of migration from villages and remote areas to big cities, as well as immigration and the failure of a number of Muslim communities due to the availability of opportunities for education, employment, and other services, as it was the weakness of municipal control, and lack of follow-up urban growth, high residential land prices, and suffer major cities in Saudi Arabia from the proliferation of slums that impede the march of urban development to those cities, for example, Mecca infested about 70 random region, led to the emergence of social problems, economic, urban, environmental and security ... etc., became necessary visions put for the development of slums in Mecca, through the study of the reality of slums in Mecca in order to identify the origins and the reasons for their appearance and the most important problems, and then addresses the development of attempts to identify the obstacles and challenges faced by this process and then to identify the competent authorities and their role in this process and to monitor the positives and negatives efforts .
Find a study of some international experiences in different parts of the world to get out of lessons learned from these experiences as addresses. Find visions of the future for the development of these slums also deals with an investigation into the desired goal and hoped for the advancement of Makkah as one of the sophisticated modern cities..
Search and comes in six chapters as follows: Chapter I A Brief History of Mecca: to identify the location, climate, topography, architecture in which traditional and modern. As well as the urban fabric of old and new.
Chapter II
Theoretical background for the slums: definition and reasons for its appearance and the types and characteristics, the most important problems.
Chapter III: An analytical study of the reality of slums in Mecca to know the reasons for its appearance and location of the qualities and the most important problems and their impact on the development process, and a statistical study.
Chapter IV: This chapter presents the development process of the slums in Mecca and the role of public and private sector and the pros and cons of such attempts.
Chapter V: Identify some of the international experiences for the development of slums in different parts of the world and show the lessons learned from these experiences .
Chapter VI: Offer insights for the development of slums to achieve the desired goal to provide safe areas and sustainable in Mecca through partnerships between the public and private sectors and to develop a long-term strategy to address the problem through a realistic view of the magnitude of the problem and its implications, and the results and recommendations.
