Abstract
The study included four chapters preceded by an introduction and ended by a conclusion. It was supported by number of figures, schedules and photographs. The introduction of the study offered the physical setting of the study area, the reasons for choosing the topic, the questions of the study and its objectives, the approaches of the research subject, and the most important sources of the study, and then it displayed the previous studies and the reached results. The first chapter investigated the spatial characteristics affecting the sand and dust storms in the study region of Egypt (location, landforms, water bodies, air masses, atmospheric pressure, depressions and jet streams. Chapter two explained the climatic elements affecting the sand and dust storms in the study area (solar radiation, temperature, wind, Relative humidity, and rainfall). Temporal variation and periodic occurrence of storms in the study area were studied in the third chapter in four points as follow:
1- Classification of the storms,
2- Paths of desert depressions,
3- The annual temporal change and periodic occurrence, and
4- The seasonal temporal change and periodic occurrence. Chapter four found out the impact of storms on man and his activities in the study area applying on the impact of the storms on human health - agriculture - transportation – and tourism, in terms of being the most important in the area of human activities and showing a prominent and influential role of these storms on man and his different activities. Finally, the main results and recommendations of the study were concluded in the summary of the thesis. At the end of the thesis, a detailed list of all references and sources both Arabic and non-Arabic the study relied upon have been listed.
