Abstract

The climatic characteristics and their effect in the geomorphological risks East of Maysan province

   The study aims to show the effect of the climatic characteristics in eastern Maysan Governorate for the period (1985-2015) in the occurrence of three types of geomorphological hazards associated with it. The flood hazards of the 14 selected basins located on the Iraqi-Iranian border were determined by equations Berkley and Snyder were classified as three levels of risk. Low-risk ponds, medium-risk basins and high-risk basins included eight basins (saffron basin, And the basin of the blind).

  The study also identified the risks of aquatic erosion, based on the Bergsma standard, and the identification of their different patterns, as well as the extraction of the sciaticity of the erosion according to Cheipl equation and the spatial variation of the sand dunes in the study area.

  In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher relied on the analytical descriptive method using quantitative statistical method. The modern geographic techniques represented by GIS were used in different stages of the study of analysis, classification and construction of systems and models, The researcher neglects the fieldwork, direct observation and interviewing officials. The study was reinforced by a series of data, maps and images that contribute to the results of the study.

  The statistical models (standard deviation, standard distance, and oscillation rate) were studied using statistical methods (correlation matrix, cluster analysis). The highest wet-model frequency was 15 ) Repetition. A GIS model was developed to classify hazard levels in the study area into four levels, which included low risk areas, medium risk areas, hazardous areas and high risk areas, covering an area of 2402.8 km2 and 25.3% of the total area of the area. studying. The study then examined the effects of these risks on human activities and the ways of reducing them in the study area.

  The study predicted temperature, wind speed and total rainfall for the stations studied for the period (2016-2025) using the time series and the Box-Genghis method, expecting high temperatures in all stations, except for the slight decrease in Bostan station, High wind speed except the stations on Ali Gharbi, Hayy and Amara. As for the total rain, it was expected to decrease except for Al Amara station, it expected a slight rise in total rain.
