MIDDLE EAST
In 2006, Dr Saad Jassim and Jeremy Goff compiled the most comprehensive book available on thegeology of Iraq. Now, for the first time and with the exclusive permission of both Dr Jassim and the publishers(Dolin, Czech Republic), GETECH is offering a complementary digital ArcGIS version, containing many of the illustrations as georeferenced image sand vector shape files.
The ‘Geology of Iraq’ (341 pages)consists of 20 chapters written by 16 experts with first hand knowledge ofthe geology of Iraq, representing many decades of geological studies compiled by Dr Jassim and his co-authors working in various capacities within Geological Surveys and Universities.
The book and associated digital GIS products supersede previous studies and draw on unpublished information collected during the regional geological surveys of Iraq from 1970 to 1990. It is undoubtedly the most up to date and authoritative work covering all aspects of geology, including the structure and tectonics, stratigraphy, petroleum geology and hydro geology, available to professional geologists working Iraq. It also offers a new interpretation of Iraq’s Pre-Cambrian basement in terms of its depth, structure and morphology.
