ABSTRCT
The state is particularly strong when its national currency is very reliable and stable in terms of value, and that any country, including Iraq, cannot obtain security and political stability unless it is supported by its economic stability, and from here the currency has emerged as one of the important geopolitical issues, as it is one of the economic pillars of the state Influencing its national stability and nation, and if any society or economy is to be threatened, the most effective way is through the destruction of the national currency, and the currency has gone through stages during which it developed until it reached its current status and nature, and various sciences have contributed to the process of crystallizing the currency and giving it strength in the global economy Among these sciences are economic sciences, geography, sociology and philosophy, which has a special perspective through which it can analyze the factors affecting the strength and weakness of the currency or return it, as the geopolitical dimensions related to the national currency have been identified through the statement of the currency’s relationship to the sovereignty of the state and national identity and its impact on security The national currency, and there were many factors that affected the strength of the currency, especially the Iraqi national currency, including mismanagement The resources of the state, the system of government, the role of local and international financial institutions, as well as the nature of the economic structure of the state, and linking that to the characteristics of the stability of the state in terms of sovereignty and national identity, as well as addressing the relationship between currency and development as a flexible and direct relationship, and addressing the most important reasons that led to the weakness and deterioration of the currency, such as political instability or Weak state administration as well as structural distortions in the economy and the resulting corruption and distortion in the development process and social and economic effects represented in poverty, unemployment, money laundering crimes, terrorist financing and others. There is no doubt that the currency with its geo-political influences has affected national security as the currency is a symbol ofSymbols of the sovereignty of the state and a tool for measuring the strength of the economy, so the currency was studied as one of the main influences in the strength of the state and the achievement of its national security and an attempt to find ways and methods in order to support the currency, as it was shown from the foregoing that the distortions occurring in the structure of the Iraqi economy and poor financial and administrative policies affected the decline of the national currency And it led to weak confidence in it in a way that affected the national security, and in order to support the national currency and increase its ability to compete with foreign currencies, a comprehensive national development policy should be formulated that is capable of protecting the state’s entity, achieving its security, and facing external challenges and threats, as well as the need to address the imbalances that the Iraqi economy suffers from To preserve the value of its currency by diversifying sources of national income and not relying on oil only and expanding and developing the contribution of other productive sectors in a way that guarantees and achieves economic and political stability for Iraq.
